Nashville, Tennessee (September 2009) – The Pensacola Interstate Fair in Pensacola FL will host the Florida State Final of the 28th Annual Colgate Country Showdown, America’s largest country music talent search. The show will be held on October 25 at the Pensacola Interstate Fair at 6:00 p.m..
The Pensacola Interstate Fair is the largest and most exciting event on the Gulf Coast drawing visitors from Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. Fair admission is $10 for 12 and up, $5 for ages 4 – 11 and free for 3 and under. All events are free with gate admission. Contestants at this year’s Colgate Country Showdown Florida State Final represent radio stations: WOKC Clewiston, WQHL Live Oak, WWKA Orlando, WXBM Pace, WIYD Palatka, WKAA Valdosta GA and WZZS Zolfo Springs (106.9 The Bull).
Annually, over 450 radio stations across the country sponsor local contests. Winners advance to their state events where prizes include $1,000 and the opportunity to compete in one of five regional events. Regional winners receive an all-expense-paid trip to the televised National Final hosted by LeAnn Rimes on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to compete for $100,000 and the coveted title of Best New Act in Country Music.
Each year, more than 50,000 artists compete throughout the U.S. Past local, state and regional winners include Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, Brad Paisley and Billy Ray Cyrus.
