Presented by J&R Supermarket in Wauchula
Zolfo Springs, Florida (April 1, 2009) – The Bull’s Colgate Country Showdown is bringing family entertainment to the community Saturday, April 4, 2009. Opens to the public at 10:00 am, The Showdown contest will start at 11:00 am and Blackwater band will entertain the crowd as the scores are tallied just before the winner is announced! 106.9 The Bull will host the 28th annual edition of America’s Largest Country Music Talent Search and radio promotion in front of the Peace River Campground in Arcadia.
Each year, hometown contests sponsored by more than five hundred local radio stations across the country pave the road to stardom. Local winners advance to forty state contests where the prizes include $1,000 in cash and the opportunity to compete at one of the five regional contests in the fall. The five regional winners receive an expense-paid trip to the National Final to compete for the $100,000 and coveted National Title.
“Each act will perform two songs on Saturday, April 4th,” said Carolyn K, On-Air Host of Country Nights and Promotions Director at 106.9 The Bull. “It is an exciting community event that provides aspiring artists in our area an opportunity for local, state, and even national exposure while promoting a greater appreciation of country music. In addition, we have all types of vendors at our festival including Bullz Eye BBQ, Aligator Cater, The Snow-Ball Factory, Kettle Corn and Funnel Cakes, Southern Shirt Shack with southern apparel, Heartland Gold with Costa del Mar sunglasses, Pony Rides by Bella, a Bounce Castle and much more. Folks of all ages will have a chance to enjoy country music all day featuring Blackwater Band and of course the showdown contestants live on stage, so come cheer them on!”
Admission to The Bull’s Colgate Country Showdown Festival is free! A portion of proceeds raised during the event will benefit a non-profit organization in our community, the Desoto-Arcadia Habitat for Humanity.
